In response to the devastating earthquake affecting families throughout Chocó, Colombia, I created A Space of Their Own: Chocó to help provide immediate, practical support to communities facing displacement and loss.

Chocó is home to one of Colombia’s largest concentrations of Afro-Colombian residents, as well as numerous Indigenous communities. These culturally rich communities have historically faced deep economic inequality, geographic isolation, and limited access to dependable housing, transportation, healthcare, electricity, and other essential infrastructure. The earthquake did not create these challenges, but it has intensified them, leaving already-vulnerable families with even fewer resources for safety, shelter, and recovery.

Through the generosity of donors, we have already begun purchasing tents, tarps, solar chargers, hygiene products, and other essential supplies. I will personally travel to Chocó and work alongside a trusted local organization to help ensure these items reach the families and communities that need them most.

Every contribution, whether through the purchase of an item from our Amazon Wish List or a monetary gift, will help provide immediate relief, safety, dignity, and hope during an incredibly difficult time.
